The play revolves around the story of five transsexuals who are finding their place in a prejudiced, economically divided, discriminatory and at times unjust society.
Gullu Baba (Gulab Khusra) the head/Guru of this ‘family’ of six pupils whom he has raised and named after flowers takes his family out one day to a holy shrine. While offering Fateha, it suddenly occurs to one of the five pupils that they should also offer sacrifice of an animal (cow) at the approaching Eid-ul-Adha. His idea is mocked by people at the shrine but Gullu is determined he would fulfill his pupils’ wish against all odds. Hence, the five transsexuals start working towards a plan – they dance in the marriage ceremonies and other occasions. Their biggest rivalry is Rasheed who is a local store owner and also a member of advisory committee of the local mosque.
These transsexuals are advised by the Imam of the mosque who is a wise and learned man that sacrifice cannot be legitimate until and unless the money is earned through proper means like working somewhere. But finding ‘proper jobs’ in a society rife with skepticism and prejudice, is not an easy task. Finally they succeed in earning some money but not enough to buy a cow. Besides, no one is willing to join hands with them to put their share in that sacrificial animal.
On the other hand Rasheed’s grocery store gets burnt due to an accidental electric short circuit. He is crying on his burnt property, Gullu comes and gives him all the hard-earned money so he can rebuild his store. These five flowers, who have learnt different skills by doing a number of odd jobs, decide to establish their own small tea shop.
Rasheed comes to his home and tells his wife Safia about the money, given by Gullu. He further says that in fact real sacrifice…is to sacrifice something who you love a lot, according to Imam Sahib. Safia ‘gets the mesaage’ and they both decide to hand their beloved cow to Gullu. Rasheed also gets the seventh share. So they all do a collect sacrifice together the dream of all the flowers (transsexuals) come true.
